We regret to announce that we’ve decided to cancel this year’s Summer Solstice Festival, originally scheduled for June 27 at Wiswasser Park, Rickard Boat Launch and Park Lake Beach. Due to Covid-19 and related social distancing and other safety restrictions, we believe it’s best to forego the event this year rather than try to adapt all events accordingly. While we will certainly miss all the fun events such as the cardboard boat race, children’s games and activities, big net casting, silent auction and Lions cookout, we’ll be back next year!
Meanwhile, remember than Wiswasser Park and Park Lake Beach are still open every day for summertime fun, such as swimming, sunbathing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, boating and fishing. Park Lake Beach features a fishing dock, lakefront pavilion with picnic tables and plenty of sand and sun.
Enjoy your summer and we hope to see you at the lake, and at next year’s Summer Solstice Festival!
Our tentative date for the 2020 Friends of Park Lake Summer Solstice Festival is Saturday, June 27. At this time nobody is certain of the trajectory the Covid-19 virus will take, but we are hoping we can safely celebrate our beautiful lake, and the wonderful community that surrounds it, in June as planned. However, due to the virus-related restrictions, our festival may need to look and feel slightly different in 2020 than in years past. We will likely need to trade some of our traditional entertainment options, such as bounce houses and face paining for the kiddos, for entertainment options more suitable for the “new normal” of social distancing. We hope to still host the cardboard boat race and other activities that can take place with safe social distancing. Of course, if state of Michigan lockdown restrictions are still in place in June we may need to reschedule the event for later in the summer. Please check back frequently for updates as the Covid-19 situation evolves. Stay safe and well!

Mark your calendar now — you won’t want to miss this unique lakefront event which is growing more popular every year!

Our fifth annual Friends of Park Lake Summer Solstice Festival was a huge success! Beautiful weather encouraged great attendance, and we witnessed a lot of fun and laughter while enjoying the activities and entertainment. We’d like to thank all who participated in the Silent Auction; we surpassed our 2019 goal, and funds will be used toward preserving and beautifying Park Lake and the surrounding area.
Please mark your calendar for next year’s Summer Solstice Festival: Saturday, June 27.
